Mysore Style Method

The method, Mysore style, owes its name to place of origin of modern day Ashtanga Yoga, the city of Mysore the second-largest city in the state of Karnataka, India.

Mysore is where Sri T. Krishnamacahrya and Sri K Pattabhi Jois developed this style of Yoga. The main difference between Mysore Ashtanga and other forms is that students perform the sequence of asanas on their own in a group setting. Slowly over time the student memorises the sequence of asanas and develops there own practice with the teacher adjusting and offering advice on an individual basis.
